Mastering your Money

If you can’t manage a little bit of money, how can you expect yourself to manage a lot of money? There is an old saying that goes like this, “mo money, mo problems”, and for the a lot of us, it’s the truth. Our current financial mess is the result of our own failure to manage it. For a lot of us in this mess, the absolute worst thing that could happen to us is getting “mo money”, for we would undoubtedly make more of a mess with it.

One of the people that I’m helping with their money problems often tries to make the point that his current dire financial situation is due to the fact that he doesn’t make enough money, “if I only made a bit more….” No, it’s not an income problem you have, I tell him, it’s in fact an expenditure problem. The fact that virtually all of your Friday paycheck is gone by Monday is the real problem.

The first step in getting on the path to financial freedom isn’t a lecture or a better budget or getting a raise at work. The first step is an attitude change. Having a plan is worthless without the willpower to back it up. You have to decide for yourself that things will change. When you have the right attitude, nothing can stand in your way; you will make the right choices and effortless healthcare capital investments for your future.

Consider the example of the New Years resolution to work out more. Why do so many people quit by the end of January? Is it because the gym they go to int nice enough or doesn’t have enough equipment? No, they fail because they were not committed to it. You can always lose those few extra pounds next year, but unfortunately, you may have dug yourself into a financial hole that your wont be able to get out of.

Step 1 on your journey; preparing yourself mentally for it. There is no room for failure, you cannot be in this mess any longer. By adjusting your attitude of spending less and saving more, your are setting yourself up for success for the inevitable day that you will in fact have “mo money”.
