Celebrating the half year

I figured it would be a good week to take a break for a quick update on the year’s progress. 6 months of 2015 have elapsed and the blog is going better than ever! A big THANK YOU to all my readers out there. Whether you’ve just stumbled onto the site for the first time or you’ve been a loyal reader from day one, thanks so much for stopping by. I am continually amazed and inspired by you guys. Way to go team. We had a couple of guest posters; thanks Ernest for his insight on Lending Club and thanks to Grace for her helpful tips on tax withholdings.

This year has been a big year for Mrs. Money Finance and myself. We bought a new car (well used, and don’t worry, we paid cash) and sold one in the process. We went on vacation (cheaply!) and enjoyed a nice week at the beach. Spoiler alert but word on the street is that Mrs. Money Finance will be guest posting soon!

I also wanted to let you guys know the 5 most popular posts of the year to date, in case you missed any of them or in case you wanted to re-read them!

1) 9 ways in which I’m cheap: Sure I go a little overboard at times (like filling up my water bottle at the gym), but hey, we all need to find ways to save!

2) Getting a little too cozy with your budget: It dawned on me that the monthly $90 for parking and $135 for Crossfit I spend might could use a second look.

3) Save now while it’s easy: Being a young professional is a unique time in our lives. We’ve got a decent amount of income and minimal expenses. Save wisely.

4) Should yopros use online investing sites like Betterment? Online sites like Betterment or Wealthfront are gaining in popularity and are adverting right towards yopros like us. Is it worthwhile to invest your money with them?

5) Being on the Lookout (BOLO) for red flags when applying for a credit card: Getting a credit card is a super easy…almost a little too easy. When applying for one, use these tips to make sure you’re getting a good deal!

Thanks again guys for all the encouragement and loyalty. Got ideas for a post? Got a question about your own situation? Want to schedule a time to Skype chat about your finances? Feel free to reach out to me and I’ll do my best to respond!

Yours in personal finance,

Ben
