Helping your brand stand out

Helping your brand stand out

In the digital era, it’s important to learn how to have your brand stand out. Whether you’re an entrepreneur with a business or a creator looking to get the word out, much of your time will be spent on getting your business noticed. Even as I’ve been running this blog for 8 years, I still spend a lot of time thinking about how to continually get the word out and whether it’s from word of mouth or online advertising, it’s something I continue to try to learn about. No business exists out there in isolation, and even if you are solely online, you are still part of a local community. You need to be able to get your business brand noticed, even if you’re an online company that doesn’t have a premises. The good news is that being online is going to work in your favor and when it comes to getting noticed, it’ll help!

If you do have a physical location, you are a part of a local community that can come together. Retailers and restaurants already know what it means to be able to get noticed. They have their advertising boards out and they have their branded leaflets and signage. And you can have all of that, too. There are other ways that you need to get your business noticed, too, including t-shirt fundraiser options to expose your brand or raise money for charity. Below, we’ve got some of the best ways that you can get your business noticed in the local community.

Teach a local class. No matter the industry that your business is in, you can approach local colleges and high schools and see whether you can offer your expertise and services. If not in an actual class setting, you can even host events online. Teaching a class on what you do for your business is smart, and it’s going to allow you to get some exposure and get noticed as an expert in your field. People may want to learn what you know, and you could even reach out to host an apprentice at your workplace as a result. I’ve attempted to do this via some guides that I’ve put together on the site and it was a great way to build my credibility!

Sponsor a local event. You can choose to get your brand out there to sponsor an event that’s local. Yes, it’s an investment, but it’s one that you want to spend money on because once you do, you can bet that your name will be out there and recognized. A buddy of mine that works as a PT sponsored free leg massages after 5k runs and he always reported positive success in picking up clients!

Be a part of a parade. Almost every town has a small parade every year, and building a float based on your brand can get you noticed in the community. It’s the best way to get the local community to buy from your business and it’s a mobile advertisement. It’s a no-brainer if you can be a part of one, you should be! Be sure to bring swag to pass out – everyone loves swag!

Hold your own contest. Everyone loves a freebie, and if you can raise a raffle or host a contest to give away something great (seriously, it’s got to be great), you will be able to ensure that your business is noticed. So many instagrammers that Mrs. Money follows are always doing some sort of a giveaway and it appears to me a great way to garner interest and new followers.

Raise money for charity. Everyone loves getting involved in giving back to their community via a wotrhy charity, and a win-win for you and charity can be some sort of a charity event. Think golf tournament, bake sale, or another fundraiser type, sponsored by you/your business!
